What is Ketamine?

There is expanding research in the mental health community around the impacts of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, KAP, to help eligible patients get unstuck and experience long-lasting improvement in symptoms. It is particularly effective for those struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, or those facing a roadblock in their current therapy. Some of the latest studies have shown truly life-changing results for some patients. In fact, 87% of Journey Clinicals patients with depression or anxiety have shown improvement after just two sessions with Ketamine.

How Does Ketamine Work?

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a holistic modality in which ketamine is used as a complement to psychotherapy to help eligible patients experience more frequent breakthroughs and sustained improvement in symptoms.

At Journey Clinical, we practice a collaborative care model in which Journey Clinical members (licensed, trained psychotherapists like myself) take on the therapy portion of the experience, while Journey Clinical's medical team supports our patients on all medical aspects. This includes determining health eligibility, developing a custom treatment plan, prescribing the medicine, and monitoring outcomes.

What Will Happen If I Want To Try Ketamine?

We begin by making an appointment to meet on Zoom for an hour intake meeting.

Next, we’ll set up an intake consultation with a Journey Clinical doctor who will evaluate your physical health and view you from a psychiatric perspective to prescribe the Ketamine for you.

We then have an hour-long Intention-setting session where we will go into depth as to what you might experience during your Ketamine journey, as well as explore your personal goals in working with Ketamine.

Once these steps have been completed, we will have a 2-3 hour session in which you will self-administer the medication lozenge. You will have a chaperone with you, ready to help if needed, and I will be with you throughout the entire process to guide and support you. My Journey Clinical team medical staff will be standing by if needed.

Most importantly, soon after the medication session, we will meet again to integrate your experiences. In this session, we will explore the connections between your Ketamine Journey experience and your daily life. This quick timing assures you can take advantage of the neuroplastic window in your brain created by the Ketamine.

Do Your Research on Ketamine

KAP won’t be right for everyone, and it's a personal choice whether you want to consider it. If you want to learn about KAP and see if it might be a good fit for you, I encourage you to spend some time researching on your own, or simply ask me and we can explore it together.

Below are some helpful places to get started provided by Journey Clinical (the platform I partner with for KAP).
